    salted caramel apples

It's actually going to take me longer to type this post about how easy this dessert/snack is to make, than it will take you to make it!

Have you ever had one of those day where you are craving a little something sweet, but you don't want to totally un-do whatever you did at the gym, and are looking for a healthy way to indulge your sweet tooth? Here's a way to have a healthy snack (aka...an apple- which is packed with antioxidants and disease-fighting compounds, as well as fiber and has been shown to help with preventing many different diseases ( including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's).

Dice up a nutritious Granny Smith Apple...and top with swirl of your favorite caramel sauce or syrup (hot or cold)..a dash of sea salt and a sprinkling of crushed pecans...voila! instant amazingness!

I like the mix of slightly tart raw crunchy Granny Smith's, with the sweet of the smooth caramel sauce and the savory of the salt sprinkle and pecans. If you prefer, you can put the ingredients in an oven safe dish and bake the whole thing for a few minutes ( I'd add a little sprinkle of cinnamon before baking) YUM!

This is great all on it's own, or add as a topping to greek yogurt, or a scoop of cottage cheese for a fast healthy breakfast. Top whole wheat pancakes or waffles. Want a decadent dessert- how about topping gelato or ice cream.

A recipe isn't really needed because it really is just that simple..dice apples, swirl caramel, sprinkle sea salt and crushed pecans..but for those that like to follow directions, here you go:
